The two main benefits of the aluminium can retort process are:

• enable instant detection and removal of leaky cans before and after retort which reduces the post-incubation time.
• enable better heat conductivity. This increases heat efficiency during retort.

Generally, the main advantage of aluminium can is that it maintains chill and fizz. It is the fastest chilling beverage container and is very effective at maintaining the fizz of the beverage until it is opened.

Aluminium cans are lightweight, stackable, cheap, filled easily, allows for advertisement (on the can itself) and uses shelf space more efficiently.

In addition, aluminium cans contain more than 51% recycled content, which is more than any other beverage container material. PET bottles, for example only use about 10% recycled content.
